Census!

I’m all for the census. It means in a hundred years time someone can look through all the data and find us! However, it’s nearly as boring as trying to compare gas and electricity prices!! The questions are so samey and I was hoping for some interesting ones! I don’t know about anyone else but the most interesting one in the end was ‘this one has been left intentionally blank’! The amount of people who ended up wondering why it had been! Even some newspapers had little pieces explaining! It was a Welsh question only for people in Wales! Picture: PaulSh
Red lipstick is always in fashion in my opinion. It’s classy and bold, and with different shades you can get a good day and night look. However, this season the new colour is blackberry. As soon as I hear that it reminds be of dark lipstick and Halloween, which is not a good look! Blackberry and purple lipstick will not suit everyone. Keri Hilson, Rihanna and Megan Fox all sport the look, but they all have a team of stylists to pick the right colour! I think for me this season I will stick to the red, but of course if a top stylists knocks on my door and recommends my perfect shade of purple lipstick I won’t say no! Image by Paola Yeah;))

Getting a good night sleep is essential to me. If I do not get enough sleep I just cannot function properly. So after reading an interesting article written by a sleep therapist on how to have a good nights sleep, I decided to take on board the tips. 1. Keeping a window open. Apparently keeping a window open through the night so you keep cool is vital to a good nights sleep. I did notice a difference and slept better, but did wake up with a cold head! 2. Time yourself. I already knew that sleep occurs in cycles and if you break one you could wake up feeling worse. But this article recommended no less than seven hours and no more than eight and a half hours sleep. This is what I was already getting. 3. Put a notepad and pen by your bed. I thought this was a good tip! My mind is always racing before I am about to go to sleep so to be able to quickly jot something done and then forget about it until the morning meant I could relax. FINALLY…. 4. The expert also advised to ban TVs and laptops from the bedroom. This tip I just could not face! Watching TV before I go to bed relaxes me. So this was a no go! Sleep tight! OH GEORGE!

Club Tropicana is going to seem a long, long way away for George Michael over the next eight weeks. The Wham! star has been given eight weeks in prison for crashing his car whilst under the influence of drugs. Apparently George looked shocked when the sentence was given, but surely he must be aware that if he breaks the law he has to face the consequence whether or not he is an international star. It does make me laugh though at how the supposed ‘tough love’ given to George will mean he will only probably have to spend just 4 weeks in prison – only half his sentence. Lindsay Lohan faced a similar fate in America a few months ago too. Huge press coverage about how she is going to prison and things need to change etc but she was released after just 13 days of a 90 days sentence. At the end of the day these people who are in the limelight are role models (George Michael perhaps not!) but they need to act like one at least. Fitness is a chore in my world. I want to exercise and finding time is hard, when I do there is always a big struggle to actually get myself to the gym. Being fit and healthy is on everyone’s minds 24/7 so coming up with some easy ways to keep fit and incorporate it into the day is a good option. Apparently walking up and down the stairs for 15 minutes can burn 100 calories. Obviously it depends on how hard you work, but it is good for toning legs and bum. Gardening or doing the housework for 25 minutes can also burn 100 calories. Although it does not sound fun, at least you will be killing two birds with one stone! My favourite of all though is dancing for 20 minutes! This can burn 100 calories and by far is the most fun. However, I don’t suppose going out on a Saturday night and dancing counts if you are drinking! Image by Vick the Viking
